The Clinical Pharmacy and DIC department are considered as center of excellence in providing health care to patients through:
• Compliance with scientific evidence and global recommendations in treating various diseases.
• Through supplying the medical team with drug information and the latest scientific evidence, it helps to achieve the maximum possible efficiency of the treatment plan for patients within the units.
• The clinical pharmacist assists in providing the best medical care to the patient inside the hospital and clinics to help them heal and prevent diseases by ensuring that the patient is given medication in the appropriate dosage and form, in cooperation with doctors and other specialists who are involved in the treatment.
• The clinical pharmacist reviews the patient's medical history and medications, in addition to identifying the patient's degree of commitment to taking medications and the problems that may prevent this.
The clinical pharmacist participates in setting the treatment plan with the treating physician, adjusting the medications doses for patients according to kidneys and liver functions, as well as reviewing drug interactions that may adversely affect the patient.
• The clinical pharmacist follows up the patient daily in order to assess the effectiveness and safety of the treatment plan and to make the necessary changes according to the latest developments in the patient's condition.
• Adjusting the drug doses based on measuring their concentration in the blood.
• The clinical pharmacist educates and instructs the patient by explaining the drug treatment plan to the patient or his companions.
